With the escalating tensions and worsening humanitarian situation in Ukraine in the wake of the breach of the Olympic Peace by the Russian government and the government of Belarus through its support, the CMAS Europe (CMAS EU) releases the following statement :

On February 27th, 2022 the President of CMAS stated this declaration: CMAS shares the position of the IOC in respect of the situation in Ukraine and will coordinate its action following the International Olympic Committee (IOC) guidance and guidelines.

On February 28th, 2022 the resolution of the IOC says: In order to protect the integrity of global sports competitions and for the safety of all the participants, the IOC EB recommends that International Sports Federations and sports event organisers not invite or allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in international competitions.

To protect the reputation and the interests of CMAS EU/CMAS and to show our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the Russian Underwater Federation and the Underwater Federation of Belarus will not be allowed to become member of CMAS-EU and should be suspended from CMAS-membership for an indefinite period.
